The Coral Branches are more than just a pendant. They are conversation pieces hand carved and “sand cast” with recycled sterling silver to produce their unique shapes and sandy texture. The high polish 14k gold sea life and sparkling vibrant gemstones are a sweet contrast to the textured silver, and evoke a rich diversity of ocean life that depends on coral reefs for shelter and food. Over time, the sterling silver coral will oxidize to the individual wearer, creating a striking visual contrast to the bright 14k gold elements.
This is meant to serve as my own artistic reflection on climate change and its effects on our oceans. The idea that we as humans can polish the silver to remove some of the oxidation shows how we can also work to save, protect, and nourish our oceans through community awareness and global action.
Due to the texture created by the sand, the tiny crevices/detail in the silver will hold that oxidation when wiping the surface with a polishing cloth. This will create an added depth and contrast over time that should be celebrated! It will be 100% unique to the wearer!
