Summer Layers
Sun’s out…. jewels out! 🌞 It’s time for some spring cleaning to prepare for the layering ahead!
Summer is upon us… Now is a great time to pull out your tiny (and statement) treasures to make sure everything is ready to sparkle and shine for its next wear!
Your jewelry should be treated with love and care throughout the year, but I’m sure we’ve all found ourselves peeking into our jewelry boxes and trays and wondering.. what happened!?
To keep your gold, diamonds, sapphires, and rubies sparkling, soaking in warm water with a touch of (unscented) dish soap and a gentle brushing with a soft bristled/worn tooth brush is all you need. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry before storing away. We really just want to remove any lotion or debris that may find itself into the details. For the ultimate clean, I do recommend stopping in your local jewelry store for a steam cleaning.
Jewelry polishing cloths will also do the trick for pieces with softer gemstones that do *not* like to soak in soapy water (like opals and fossils). Be aware of any components that were purposely oxidized/blackened, as soap will remove a blackened finish that will need to be reapplied. Now that everything is clean, it should be that much easier (and more fun?!) to organize for summer wear. I don’t know about you, but I definitely have a few pieces that truly shine during certain seasons and I like to have them front and center. Not to mention, the heat of summer usually means jewelry is the only thing I’ll be layering for a few months!
